The Brogrammers and Develop(h)ers program is a coding and leadership training program for students of ages 12-18 brought to you by the NSBE Chicago Professionals and the 100 Black Men of Chicago. The program runs every Saturday from 10 - 5 pm from early September 14, 2024 to May 3rd, 2025.

The students will design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge using an alliance format.
Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and working as a team. The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and can be coded using a variety of levels in Java-based programming. Teams design and build robots, raise funds, design and market their team brand, document their team’s journey in an engineering notebook and do community outreach to earn specific awards.

This year, the students will come together to innovate and solve problems with the FIRST community. In FIRST, they are part of a thriving community brimming with inspiration, creativity, and hope for a stronger, more sustainable future—one that’s built better together. They have the power to help the cities, towns, and places you call home reach new heights. With the support of the FIRST community, this is their opportunity to lead our future forward—and up.
