$5,000 Chicago NSBE Scholarship Pilot Program - Donate

This scholarship is offered by the NSBE - Chicago Professionals and is intended to mentor and assist undergraduate students in completing a degree in engineering or computer science disciplines.  The results of this opportunity is to increase the number of Black engineering and computer science students in schools in accredited colleges and universities located in the Chicago metropolitan area.  Each student will receive a minimum of $5,000 each school year to be used for basic needs.

WHY?

Research has shown that over 80% of the engineering and computer science students in the area work at least 20 hours a week and many work more than 20 hours to cover living expenses and basic needs.  This has led to low GPA's and high stress levels in the students which oftentimes leads to withdrawal from school.  No one should have to choose between food and education.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

We are asking our partners to help us by donating at least 1 scholarship per company and at least 1 mentor.  We believe that with a little financial support and some mentoring, we can change the tide and help more students graduate with engineering or computer science degrees.

WHAT WILL YOU GET?

We are launching this as a pilot program and as such will be collecting in-depth data on our students and their progress. Participating companies will receive the program report and analysis on the impact of the program.  Also, NSBE - Chicago Professionals is a 501c(3) non-profit so all donations are tax deductible.
