Annette Y. Robinson Scholarship

This scholarship is for high school seniors and college students that will be or are currently enrolled in a degreed engineering program.

Each Applicant is required to have a 2.5/4.0 GPA or higher, be accepted into an Engineering program or current be attending college for Engineering, and be a person of color.

There are two options to choose from:

  • Studies show that African Americans living in urban areas are twice as likely to die of heat related stress illness. Research the accuracy of this statement and develop a process or piece of technology that will address the problem.
  • Studies show that African American children living in urban areas are eight times as likely to have health issues related to lead poisoning. Research the accuracy of this statement and develop a process or piece of technology that will address the problem.

Each submission should have a clear thesis and methodology for creating solutions for the issue. The applicant will be judged on three criteria.

  • Research detail, accuracy and presentation
  • White paper/schematics for the solution
  • Oral presentation of the solution

One prize of $500 will go to a high school senior and one to a college student. The paper will be published and a press release will go out announcing the winners.

The scholarship will be open from January 20, 2017 to April 1, 2017.
